Part 5: How to list for maximum sales and cash

Hi, hope your well, the time here in the u.k as I write this 7.30am and I’ve got my coffee all fired up so I’m ready to go.

Today let’s look at how to list on eBay for maximum visitors and profit.

There are a few things we need to do to make big bucks and guarantee lots of visitors to our eBay auction and most importantly get that sale.

Let’s keep working with the guitar example we’ve used so far.

The first thing you need to do is go to eBay and put the description of your item in eBay’s search box.

I put in fender Stratocaster guitar. This contains two keywords currently in eBay pulse’s top ten words used by people on eBay searching for a guitar to buy.

Next write down the category all the fender Stratocaster s are being sold in, in this case it’s Musical Instruments > Guitars > Electric > Fender

This is where you would list your fender Stratocaster.

Next you want to check out completed listings and search for your item. Has it being sold a good few times? How much did it sell for?

Write down all the titles of at least ten successful auctions for your product and then look for commonalities. When I searched completed listings for the fender guitar I found that fender and Stratocaster where pretty much used all the time.

In fact here’s the title of an auction where a fender guitar sold for £500.00p British pounds. That’s about a thousand dollars.

GENUINE USA FENDER STRATOCASTER ELECTRIC GUITAR

As we can see our friend has used the keywords fender and guitar so that’s a good start. Electric is also a good keyword as many people search using the words electric guitar.

So there are lots of positives we can learn from here. I personally like to use as many keywords as possible without having my listing closed by eBay.

So I would try to fit some of the other keywords that eBay pulse give me. Just mess about with your title and get as many keywords in as possible.

For instance this won’t work Fender guitar Gibson rockman marshall. Basically this is the top five keywords found in eBay pulse. This will get your auction shut down. Keyword spamming is no good.

Blend in the keywords in a way that makes your title read ok. We must have fender and guitar, the model type always attracts very targeted buyers so Stratocaster wants to be in there. Electric is a good word and I like to put in something catchy that makes my auctions stand out.

Something like play like Hendrix would work well here, I’ve found using famous people connected to the object in some way has worked well for me and always brought lots of traffic to my auctions.

You should also consider using the featured listing format if the item’s sale price warrants it, this will guarantee you lots of exposure and traffic looking at your listing.

Ok folks that’s all today, where slowly taking a piece of the eBay pie one bite at a time. Keep taking Action.
